All Rocky Franchise Storyline
The Rocky franchise is a series of American sports drama films that chronicle the boxing career of Rocky Balboa, a fictional Italian-American boxer from Philadelphia. The franchise consists of eight films, released between 1976 and 2018.
Rocky (1976)
The first film in the franchise introduces Rocky Balboa, a small-time boxer who works as a debt collector for a local loan shark. When heavyweight champion Apollo Creed comes to Philadelphia to find a local opponent for an upcoming exhibition match, Rocky is chosen as the underdog. Despite the odds being stacked against him, Rocky trains hard and gives Creed a run for his money in the ring.
Rocky II (1979)

Rocky is devastated by his loss, but he is determined to regain his title. He trains with his old mentor, Mickey Goldmill, and he eventually defeats Lang in a rematch.
Rocky IV (1985)
After defeating Lang, Rocky is challenged by Ivan Drago, a Soviet boxer who is the product of a government-sponsored training program. Drago is a formidable opponent, and he easily defeats Rocky in their first fight. Rocky is devastated by his loss, but he is determined to avenge his country. He trains with Apollo Creed, and he eventually defeats Drago in a rematch.
Rocky V (1990)
After defeating Drago, Rocky is diagnosed with brain damage. He is forced to retire from boxing, and he returns to his old neighborhood in Philadelphia. Rocky opens a boxing gym, and he begins to train a new generation of fighters.
Rocky Balboa (2006)
Sixteen years after retiring from boxing, Rocky is approached by Mason "The Line" Dixon, the current heavyweight champion. Dixon offers Rocky a chance to fight him for the title, and Rocky agrees. Rocky trains hard for the fight, and he gives Dixon a run for his money in the ring. However, Rocky is ultimately defeated, but he leaves the ring with his head held high.
Creed (2015)
Creed is a spin-off of the Rocky franchise that follows the story of Adonis Creed, the son of Apollo Creed. Adonis is a young boxer who is trying to make a name for himself. He seeks out Rocky to train him, and Rocky agrees. Rocky trains Adonis, and he helps him to become a champion.
Creed II (2018)
Creed II is a sequel to Creed that follows the story of Adonis Creed as he prepares to fight Viktor Drago, the son of Ivan Drago. Adonis is determined to avenge his father’s death, but he knows that Viktor is a formidable opponent. Rocky trains Adonis, and he helps him to prepare for the fight. Adonis ultimately defeats Viktor, and he avenges his father’s death.
